7 Family doctor's recommendations for autumn health
The autumn months, especially starting in October, are a time when nature begins to go to peace. Often people experience despair, drowsiness, and even depression in the autumn. With the passing of summer, the positive mood often disappears and energy is depleted, and the body can begin to recall long-standing ailments and health problems.
Autumn is a period that gives us time to prepare for winter, taking care of ourselves and strengthening the body and spirit before the coming period of cold and darkness. Remember, it doesn't take much to improve your health: proper nutrition, exercise, and a good mood! Autumn is also a time of harvest and vitamin abundance, which should be used to the maximum
1.Vitamin 1D
Take vitamin D. We get most of our vitamin D from the sun, so when you are indoors, especially in the fall and winter seasons, your vitamin D stores will run out. Getting enough vitamin D in your body will improve your mood and immune system.
2. Immune system
Help your immune system. Take regular and adequate amounts of water, wash your hands regularly and use disinfectants. Take in vitamin C by eating fruits and vegetables. Quit smoking!
3. Nutrition
Eat seasonal dishes. Beets, broccoli, cabbage, eggplant, cauliflower, pumpkins, courgettes, and other autumn vegetables and fruits! It is not for nothing that they are autumn - they contain a lot of vitamins and trace elements that prepare our body for the autumn-winter period. Reduce the consumption of unhealthy foods. Reduce or eliminate alcohol from your diet altogether. Do not use or reduce your sugar and salt intake.
4. Activities
Be active! It's easy to just sit in the office all day, but it's very important to move around during the day. It does not have to be a visit to the gym or a 10 km long cross-country. It will be enough once a day with a 30-40 minute walk, which can be replaced by raking leaves or shoveling snow. Choose activities that make you happy, listen to your favorite music during the activities. Don't give up on laziness and do it regularly.
5. Clothing
Dress for the weather. Do not allow the body to overheat when dressing too warm, or on the contrary - plans to cool down when dressing. The biggest evil for the body is wet clothes or shoes. In autumn there are changing weather conditions when in the morning the temperature can approach zero, but during the day climb to +15 degrees. During this time, try to dress properly - the clothing should consist of several layers, which can be changed/removed while the air temperature changes, maintaining a comfortable feeling for the body. It is very wrong to put on a t-shirt and a thick down jacket on top. Also, don't forget about gloves and a hat. The human head gives off a lot of body heat.
6. Sleep
Sleep is extremely important for human health and should take at least 6-7 hours. Starvation causes fatigue, loss of concentration and sooner or later leads to health problems. Excessive sleep will also be detrimental to your health.
7. Be good to yourself!
Long working hours and excessive workload cause stress and insomnia, which can easily lead to illness during the flu season. Listen to your body and give it everything you need! Go to bed and plan a vacation. Completing all the points rewards yourself.
