7 Warning Signs Your Body Sends When You Have Too Much Sugar
Spread jam on bread in the morning, eat a bite of chocolate at school or at work, a piece of sweet cake in the afternoon, eat dinner in front of the TV at home, and a bowl of yogurt for dessert... Well, it seems like a normal daily life, no big deal.
But be aware. It's a much more unhealthy diet than you think. It is not only the visible sugar like when you put it in coffee, but also the sugar is hidden in the processed food. For example, sausages, canned fruit, and potato chips contain a lot of sugar. What effect does the ingested sugar have on our body without even a rat or bird?
First, when more food enters the body than it needs, the body converts it into fat and stores it. This accumulated fat does not necessarily stick to the outer skin.
Our organs will also gain weight! It gradually slows down the organs and prevents them from functioning properly. Usually, fat starts to build up from the liver. Wait, I'm not saying fat itself is bad. Nutritionists are increasingly recognizing the benefits of fat, pointing to sugar (and salt) intake, not fat, as the culprit.
If you experience any of the 7 symptoms listed below, it's a sign that you're consuming too much sugar. This means you need to reduce your sugar intake.
1. Fatigue
When sugar enters the blood rapidly, an instantaneous awakening effect occurs. However, it is not recommended to rely on sugar to achieve this effect. Consuming too much sugar can only make you feel a little bit fussy, but then the infamous 'sugar crash' happens. As a result, your sugar levels drop sharply, making you feel more tired than ever before. Therefore, instead of the chocolate that I habitually pick up while working, I recommend an apple. The rich fiber in apples slows the digestion of fructose, so you don't feel tired like the above. Instead of the terrifying sugar crash, energy rises for a long time. It's a bonus to help you have a pretty body!
2. Poor concentration
If you are distracted after eating and have trouble concentrating, you may be consuming too much sugar in one meal. Sudden changes in blood sugar levels can lead to cognitive decline and even depression.
3. Sugar Addiction
Can't you taste the sweetness of sugar? If so, you should suspect sugar addiction. If you eat large amounts of sugar over a long period of time, your oral glucose tolerance increases, so you will have to consume more and more sugar to be satisfied.
That's why scientists liken sugar to addictive drugs!
4. Weight gain
What if your favorite jeans don't fit you anymore, and you don't want to see your body in the mirror? The cause of weight gain is (probably) sugar. Sugar is a high-calorie food, but not a 'good' calorie. It only relieves hunger for a moment but makes you hungry again.
Taking processed food as an example, hunger comes faster than when you eat home-cooked food without Seoljeongtang. So you end up eating more food.
5. Hunger
Consuming too much sugar often makes you hungry. This is because sugar is addictive. According to a study conducted by the University of Michigan Medical Research Institute, sugar is more addictive than cocaine (click here to read more about the study). After reading all of the research, maybe sweet cookies or savory potato chips aren't as enticing as they used to be.
6. Reduced immunity (cold)
If you catch colds or flu more often than you used to, it may be related to your sugar intake. A large amount of sugar lowers the immune system, making our body susceptible to disease. (Isn't that another important reason to cut back on sugar after 5 cocaine? If you suffer from a cold all year round, your daily life is hell.)
7. Aggravation of skin condition
As with any poison, excess sugar is difficult to break down in the body. The last part of the body where toxins that have not been completely broken down are sent to the skin. It may not be the most efficient, but the final breakdown occurs in the skin. As a result, your skin may develop acne, eczema, inflammation, etc., to break down sugar, and it may be too dry or too oily.
Wouldn't it be better to reduce sugar intake first than to pay attention to expensive cosmetics to improve skin?
Eating sweet foods makes you feel good. Occasionally, you can eat your favorite chocolate, cake, or processed food. However, think about your body on a regular basis and try to eat natural foods as much as possible. This includes vegetables, fruits, nuts, legumes, or grains. Of course, eat dairy products and meat in moderation.
It may be difficult to quit sugar with a single knife, but once you do, you will be able to fully enjoy the variety of flavors that all kinds of ingredients have to offer. Flavor it with a variety of herbs or natural spices. Lemon juice, pepper, cumin seeds, ginger, turmeric root, parsley, marjoram, cilantro, and finally, red pepper powder that goes perfectly with chocolate! The healthy ingredients that nature provides are limitless.
It's not just about getting thinner. Be sure to remember that this is a path for a healthy body and mind!
