10 simple hand washing tips

1. Washing your hands is one of the easiest ways to protect yourself and significantly reduce your risk of illness. Various viruses enter our nose and mouth not only when we inhale or eat them, but more often when we touch our own faces or do not wash our hands before eating.

2. Ingesting food with dirty hands can cause various types of parasites or pathogens to enter our intestines, which can cause nausea, poisoning or even serious illness

3. Hands must be washed regularly, but there are situations where it is mandatory to do so:

  • after a toilet visit;
  • after sneezing and coughing
  • before you start cooking;
  • before eating;
  • after waste disposal;
  • after contact with animals (especially if they are away from home);
  • returning home;
  • before sex;

4. Water temperature does not matter for hand washing.

5. It is better to use soap without triclosan (this ingredient is an ingredient in antibacterial soap). Firstly, it is harmful to the environment, and secondly, triclosan is an allergen and can cause skin discomfort.

6. If soap is not available, it is much better to wash your hands in clean water than not to wash them at all

8. For the hand to be effective, the process must take at least 20 seconds and up to a minute.

9. Dry your hands with a clean cloth or paper towel. Air drying hands is also a good method. Do not wipe your hands with clothes.

10. Use a hand sanitizer, but use it in moderation and only when it is really needed.
